Based on the Oscar-winning animated feature, Shrek The Musical will be brought to life by St. Albert Children’s Theatre. Complete with all new songs, this stage production propels the original story to a whole new level of hilarious antics and over-the-top circumstances. How did Fiona end up in the tower? What made Shrek so cranky? Why is Lord Farquaad such a bully?
In a far away kingdom things are not as they seem. For instance, there’s a grumpy ogre, a very chatty donkey, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits all looking for someone to take charge. Who would have thought the person they’re looking for was in their midst and would not only become their hero, but would also save the princess and the day?
“Shrek has always been on my wish list of shows and I am so pleased to finally get the chance to bring it to the stage. Like most of us, I fell in love with the movie, and when it was made into a musical I was thrilled; the music is awesome, and it’s full of heart to the work. It conveys a great message about not judging a book by its cover.”
